Facial fillers, sometimes called dermal fillers, are injectable substances that are placed strategically into parts of the face that have sunken, hallowed, lined or creased due to aging or are used to enhance contours in the lips, cheek, undereyes, chin, jaw, and more.
The two most common types of filler are H.A. (hyaluronic acid) fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane which provide immediate plumping, and PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) filler called Sculptra which stimulates your body to produce new collagen over time. All fillers used at Natural Body Spa + Med Spa are FDA approved and administered by our trained medical injectors.
Whether it’s restoring cheek fullness, refining jawlines, softening smile lines, or adding a graceful contour to the lips, fillers can help you look like the best version of yourself — rested, radiant, and refreshed.
Traditional fillers are gel-like substances that are gently injected beneath the skin to smooth lines, plump volume, and sculpt soft, natural contours. Most fillers today are made with a version of hyaluronic acid (HA), a molecule your body naturally produces. Brands like Juvederm and Restylane fall into this category. They’re versatile, soft, and offer instant, beautifully natural-looking results with little to no downtime.
For those looking to gradually build volume and stimulate collagen over time, there’s also a PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) based filler, known under the brand name Sculptra. Rather than instantly filling an area, Sculptra works more like a collagen “trainer,” encouraging your skin to rebuild its own support structure for a refreshed, lifted look that evolves subtly over several months.
How Do Fillers Work?
H.A. Fillers
Hyaluronic acid, or H.A. facial fillers are gel-like substances precisely injected into the mid-to-deep dermis of the face using an ultra-fine needle to add volume to hollows and empty spaces or beneath lines and wrinkles. Overall, this restores structure, replenishes volume, and smooths wrinkles for a youthful, natural appearance with immediate results.
Regenerative Filler
Sculptra, known as a regenerative filler, is composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which acts as a collagen stimulator, helping to gradually restore fullness to facial wrinkles and folds. This state-of-the-art dermal filler treatment is injected using a small, thin needle directly into the sub-dermal areas of the skin. Once injected, the microspheres are slowly absorbed and metabolized by the body, which results in increased collagen and elastin production deep within your skin to restore a youthful visage. This results in a softer and more youthful appearance in around a week, with results improving as time progresses.

Sculptra Filler
Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic material that has been used for decades in dissolvable stitches, and soft tissue implants. Because it’s a biodegradable molecule, it is easily broken down and absorbed within the body. PLLA acts as a collagen stimulator, helping to gradually restore fullness to facial wrinkles and folds. This results in a softer and more youthful appearance.
Rebuild Collagen Structure Naturally
This is a dermal filler treatment, which means the treatment itself will require the use of a small, thin needle to inject the special treatment solution directly into the sub-dermal areas of the skin. Once injected into your skin, the microspheres are slowly absorbed and metabolized by the body, which results in increased collagen and elastin production deep within your skin to restore a youthful visage.
Patients who have sensitive skin or who are anxious about needles may choose to use a topical numbing cream prior to the procedure to ensure comfort for the duration of the treatment. Your treatment appointments will take about 30 minutes to complete, just like any other dermal filler.

How Does A Filler Injection Feel? Does It Hurt?
All fillers at Natural Body + Med Spa include lidocaine to ensure minimal discomfort during your treatment. A certified medical practitioner will inject filler with a fine needle into the tissue beneath the epidermis per your treatment plan. During the treatment, you will feel slight pressure and dulled needle pricks. It’s a quick treatment and requires little to no downtime.
What Will I Look Like Post Treatment?
Mild bruising and swelling is common for the first 3-5 days after filler injections. Lips tend to bruise and swell more, so they may take a little longer to heal. You can typically resume normal activities immediately after your treatment.
When Will I See Results? How Long Will They Last?
H.A. Fillers
You will see near immediate improvement after your Juvederm and Restylane injections — usually within three days. All filler treatments are FDA approved for up to 12 months, with results that can last between 1-2 years. The duration of results will vary based on how quickly your body metabolizes the filler (our bodies all behave uniquely) and the type, quantity and depth of the filler treatment.
Regenerative Filler
After your Sculptra treatment, you may see some improvements within the first week of treatment; however, optimal, long-lasting effects will not develop until an average of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart.
The improvement will continue for four to six months, at which point your results should reach their peak. Because the results occur throughout a gradual timeframe, you won’t experience a sudden, unnatural appearance that may be associated with surgical treatments.
Sculptra results can last more than two years, according to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.
