Clean and Healthy

In our last issue we talked about the benefits of using salts in a bath to ease sore muscles – the reaction of the salts with your metabolism pulls toxins through the skin and has a refreshing result. There are other gains from a good soak (or a shower). Bath vs Shower? Depends on what ails ya.
In a bath, the warm water slows the systems of the body, with a quieting effect. The warmth will also soothe aches in joints and muscles through the dilation of blood vessels. You can add an herbal mixture in a bath to create a relaxing environment. Try our Tub Teas in either Eucalyptus/Spearmint (to also help clear sinus block), or Lavender/Chamomile (whose aromatherapy properties are proven to mellow). If you’re fortunate enough to have jets in a bath, this also helps to release tense muscles through a massaging of the skin and muscles. (Enviro-tip: when done, you can use this “greywater” to flush your toilet – just fill a bucketful before it all goes down the drain).
When showering, the moving water stimulates, massaging the skin, activating blood circulation and releasing tight muscles. A pulsing shower with an earthy invigorating skin rub, like our organic Green Coffee and Yerba Mate, will jumpstart your morning. Finishing with a cool (or cold, if you can stand it) rinse has further health benefits:
- Reduces blood pressure on your internal organs
- Causes muscle contraction that eliminates toxins
- Strengthens mucous membranes that fight against allergies and other sinus issues
- Rushes blood flow to your capillaries, increasing circulation, which in turn flushes out your insides with fresh oxygen through the blood
